Zhiyun Molus B500 - A Lightweight 500w BiColor LED
In this video I check out the all new Zhiyun Molus B500. This Bowens mount LED packs a 500w Bicolor chip into an all-in-one design, creating an extremely capable unit in a compact and lightweight package. While most lights at 300w and above tend to feature massive heatsinks along with a control box or external AC adapter, the Dyna-vort cooling technology of the Molus lineup keeps all the voltage control in the unit, meaning all you have outside of the light head is a single power cable. No brick, no control box, no dirty dangler. The Molus B500 is a very simple design with only two dials on it for control of power and color temperature, from 2700-6500k. There is a small display on the back to show those two figures. Check out the video to see more details and find out if the light is a good fit for your video needs. The Molus series from Zhiyun also includes a 100, 200, and 300 watt version.

Make BETTER Product Photos With This
Переглядів 1,9 тис.4 місяці тому
A journey with product photography can be daunting at first. A foundation of good lighting is needed. After that comes solid styling and environments to compliment your subject. From there leveling up with a little more polish can be tricky, but it doesn't need to be. Next steps are to get your shadows dialed in. The new Shadow Boards from V-Flat World make it pretty easy to do that. Durable, v...

absolutely agrre with your suggestions!!!
can you control kelvin on 600? my temperature is very blue or do you only adjust via camera
I used one of these for the first time yesterday and even though I have HSS enabled on the remote and HHS enabled on my camera, I couldn't increase the shutter speed past 1/250. I checked multiple times that HSS was enabled on both, but no matter what I did, I could not get the shutter speed to increase. This was using a Nikon btw.
I'll wait for X3 Touch "Pro"! :D
Would you say this is better than the Lindsey Adler? I have the Adler vision.
Hi! This was a very usefull video! Thanks a lot Rob! I have been trying to find the metal adapter you mention SMDV DA-03, and it's impossible to find! I found they send something very similar in ADorama, but they won't ship to Europe!! Any suggestions on how to get my hands on this apapters ? Thanks a lot in advance!
the fact that no one addresses the issue with the inside "bumps" kinda pisses me off. I got the 150 version which has tehe same issue
Hi Rob, I confirm the 1/3 stop power loss, I have tested 2 unites (heads) with Sekonic LITEMASTER PRO in different scenarios, cable fully extended, cable laying on ground cable not touching the stand, you name it, it is always 1/3 stop less, I have done at 1/4 power, 1/2 and Full power, and at distances ranging between 1.5 and 2 meters for both heads, with different reflectors, the flash standard reflector and the bownes standard reflector, always consistently losing 1/3 stop of power, making the AD600Pro with the head more like AD400Pro, I know I got less weight slightly better recycle time and the power when needed, but the loss of power and shorter cable sounds like a downgrade to me compared to the previous model.
Love it
I have a sony A7c for photography with the transmitter. I want to use a Sony A7i for photos and use the A7c for videos Can the transmitter work with the a7i??
2024... the problem is still there
How do you get 5977-6377K range from a 5600K +/-200K light? Did something go wrong?
Love the zoom idea! ✨👌🏾
I recently purchase a new X pro II N trigger. Everything is working fine in iTTL mode. My issue is when I switched to manual mode the unit isn't controlling my flash output. I'm using a Nikon Z9 with a Nikon speedlight SB-910. Im also using a X1R-N receiver along with my S Pro II -N. Thanks in advance for any response to my question.
Thank you
Have you tried DxO Photolab?
super well done - thank you!
Very helpful, thanks!
Hello Rob, have you ever run into any issues with this flash with the SONY A7III ...for some reason i am getting a message that says this accessory is not compatible. but the flash works as well at times.
Where's hss??
It’s automatic when detected that the camera is sending an HSS signal. So as long as it’s an option and activated on your camera it will work.
Have you been able to get the Xpro or Xpro II to work in TTL mode? I have owned both triggers for Sony, and neither work in TTL mode. All images are underexposed by 1-2 stops...but inconsistently. This is a well documented problem that's still unresolved. Godox did not repond to my past requests for help. Disappointing.
I gave up on this and put it on my AD200 instead and it works very well. For my AD300 I got a NEEWER Cold Shoe Flash Bracket Mount with Pistol Handle Grip and no adapters are required. I also took out the two screws to flip the top 90 degrees so it goes on with no issues.
I tried to resolve it with similar products (like the Mag Shoe that the Neewer product you mentioned copied), but ultimately with a single point of contact it will rotate when wind hits a larger modifier.
@@robhallphoto Late to the game but I'll toss in my solution: Even the newer version of the AD300 stand bracket hasn't been reliable for me. Instead of the bracket, I attached an Arca plate to the bottom of the flash. The plate rests against the raised plastic section of the case so it cannot twist. While it can now be mounted on any head with an Arca clamp, a tilt only type monopod head like the Andoer M-12 with a baby receiver (for light stand mounting) works best. I modified an ancient Bogen 3232 and it handles the AD300 with large modifiers perfectly.
Which one produces the most uniform light?
can you use the same battery type across the V1 and V1 pro ?
Can you make an updated if your still using C1 or if you went back to Lr
I know this is super old but I'm still trying to work out if the QT strobes have any colour and/or power consistency advantages over the AD strobes, or even over the cheaper studio strobes, or does the colour stable setting basically just turn it into an AD600
Stable color mode on these is +-200k, which is right in line with the non-pro AD600.
@@robhallphoto that's interesting, so do you have any recommendation for which studio model is best for consistency? Like maybe the DP series which aren't IGBT have better stability
New user to capture one. I am missing something in general here. I just shot a job with my Nikon set to raw/jpg (had to remove the Nikon SD card for C1 it to work) into Capture One. I assumed that Capture One would use the Nikon setting of RAW and JPG on the Capture One when it captured the images. Where do you tell C1 to save the files as RAW files....thanks
Awesome tutorial!!
Light stand at 4:29, is it came with original package?
HSS works. I would not place anything near my sensor. And damage it!
Thank you. It would be great to talk about indoor studio, art portrait... I suppose the ad400 is the best, but perhaps also the ad300 with the bowen adapter ?
Thank you. For me an issue is to use softbox and having light modeling. Does one Ad200pro enough powerful for a big softbox ? If not the ad400 seems great out of the box.
Update v1.13 brings back connecting the X3s to the Sekonic L-858. Updates on a Mac (M3 Max used) need to go through Godox G3 and a intermediate hub, but after connection simple and seamless. Use the unit for studio and mobile use. Battery is no factor. Even if battery was an issue, plugging in a power source - continues to operate/fire while on charging/outside power! (Yes, I've run it that way...continuing to check lighting on the Sekonic and shooting!)
I want to see how this light will work in outdoor conditions, like how much temperature it can withstand.
Can you adjust the power of 1 unit with the tactile scroll wheel on the right?
Yup.
Optical cell triggering on the P2400 via a Sony Speedlight?
Rob, I agree with your redesign of the UI. I am an architectural and portrait photographer with a studio. I am experimenting with the Xnano as a remote control of my strobe output when shooting twilight shots. I leave the R2 Pro 2 on the camera and fire it with my Camranger 2. I also use the Godox Flash app on my Android phone to adjust my strobe lights, especially in my studio.
Many thanks. GOD bless you.
Many thanks for a great tutorial. Had to slow it down by 2 stops though. GOD bless you.
Whats the clamp you fixed it on the stand please?
is there any remote control?
do you prefer using soft box or beauty dish when shooting out doors
In most cases I prefer softboxes. Mainly because I like light sources in the 36-60” range of which there aren’t many dishes to begin with, and the few that there are are a PITA to transport.
I do like my x3 but have noticed an issue in using it. I am a high school senior photog and I am on location shooter and noticed that HSS just magically turns off on my unit. Have you ever noticed this? do you know why this happens?
Really curious about these, as thoughts are they are geared towards fixing face issues, so more portraits, how would you say it fairs against editing other skin areas? I have started shooting a lot of swimwear, so by nature a lot more skin to edit with smoothing and blemishes etc, do the plug ins work across these areas or do you still have to do this more manually?
Hi Rob, I have been using Capture One for the past few years, and I think it is a uniquely beautiful program. Unfortunately, I always switch back to LR because I can edit faster with it, for example square photos. In LR I can sort 1 photo, square it and then quickly edit the other photos as well. Can I also do that quickly in Capture One? We are a school photographer and want to have the files at the photo lab as quickly as possible after processing. But I really want to work with Capture one and have also purchased the latest version. There are so many more possibilities with Capture one. But I don't work with it enough to learn more about the program. Gr. Herman - from Holland
Might be the perfect hair / separation light for photos. Kinda steep price to test it :D.
The God of Godox channel!
The only video that actually explains this flash
After 2 months of using this trigger, I hate it. LOL By this point in time, I would hope to have the hang of it - I don’t. I’ve used it probably 20-30 separate times on shoots and I simply don’t like it. I’m back to using my older triggers.
That’s unfortunate! I’ve gotten quite comfortable with it. Granted I’m almost always using 1-2 lights (or a 3-4 light setup that stays consistent for hours). Although I don’t find myself swiping much, unless it’s the first time I’m doing a light test and swiping it to the midrange. Instead I find myself tapping with 1/3rd stop increments.
@@robhallphoto I just thought I would like it more or could live with the touch screen, but I’ve run into a few problems with it recognizing my finger taps and I also take a lot of ambient shots between flash shots. You can pause, the light, but (at least on Canon) the camera still recognizes the flash and doesn’t allow for ambient exposure metering. So I have to long press the power button to turn it off. I also continue to have trouble with turning flashes on/off (one was off on the trigger on channel B and was still firing!) So believe me…I’ve tried to make it work…it just hasn’t worked out for me and that makes me sad. I’m pretty sure this is the last new trigger we’re getting for a while from Godox/Flashpoint and could be the direction we go for future designs…I just don’t know if I can live with it.
Your demonstration is so helpful. Everything I've heard is the shutter controls the background and the aperture controls the flash. But according to your video, the three key three elements (shutter, ISO, and aperture) all work in tandem with the overall exposure.
Thank you! I detest that description. It’s an awesome way to help someone get up and running with flash on their first day, but it an extremely limiting rule to follow.
